"""vrbo-scraper — 2captcha Scraper API edition (fourth engine)
One HTTP request per page, no local browser, no Playwright install. The
2captcha Scraper API fetches the page from its own infrastructure and returns
the HTML; this client parses it with the same `product_parser` the browser
engines use, so the rows and columns are identical.
WHAT IT GETS, AND WHAT IT CANNOT GET — measured 2026-09-14, $0.0005 a request
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP 200, 3,219,172 bytes of HTML
3 of 50 cards parsed, every column the card publishes fully populated
no pagination counter in the response
Three is not a failure, it is the FIRST PAINT. A Vrbo search page carries its
grid over client-side POSTs to `/graphql` — 0 `application/ld+json` blocks, 0
`__NEXT_DATA__`, and an `__APOLLO_STATE__` holding three keys — and the rest
of the 50 arrive only by scrolling an inner container, which a one-shot fetch
cannot do. The browser engines reach 50 of 50; this reaches the top of the
page.
`--wait-element` is NOT optional here, it is the whole job. Without it the
wait is satisfied by the shell and you get a page with no cards in it:
--wait-element '[data-stid="lodging-card-responsive"]'
The other thing missing from the response is the site's own
`1 - 50 of 300+` counter, which is what the browser engines use to know how
much they missed. So this client cannot tell you what it did not get —
`results_range` comes back empty and there is no completeness oracle. That is
a property of the path, not a bug, and it is the reason the rows it writes
are best treated as a sample rather than a page.
So reach for this when you want a cheap look at what is at the top of a
search — a work list, an availability spot-check, "is this property still
listed" — and use a browser engine when you want the page.

--url "https://www.vrbo.com/search?destination=Orlando,%20Florida,%20United%20States%20of%20America" \\
--wait-element '[data-stid="lodging-card-responsive"]'
# $TWOCAPTCHA_KEY is read from the environment or .env, so a key never
# has to be typed — a secret in argv is readable by anything that can run
# `ps` and lands in shell history.

endpoint's username and password into the log, and a key passed as a

would silently drop the cost and timing figures this is logged FOR the

This docstring used to say the opposite -- that the API wanted it as a

2026-09-23 against /tasks/sync: the string form is refused with HTTP
422 ("params.waitFor must be an object") and the call is STILL BILLED
($0.0005); the same request with an object answers HTTP 200. So every
--wait-* flag was a paid exit 5.
Default (no flag): wait for the DOM. On a challenge-protected page
that resolves instantly against the challenge page itself — which is
exactly the trap documented in this module's docstring, so
