🤏 QA: Verify NAO Robot Hand and Finger Dexterity (Specific Gesture Replication)
Label: bug-fix-verification, hardware, qa, motor-control, dexterity
Priority: High
📝 Description
This ticket verifies the NAO robot's repaired or enhanced ability to execute precise and repeatable finger and hand movements. The test requires the robot to cycle through a sequence of specific, detailed hand gestures (e.g., pointing, making a "peace sign," or counting with fingers) to confirm fine motor control, joint accuracy, and smooth, non-jerky actuation in the wrist and fingers.
✅ Acceptance Criteria
- The NAO robot must successfully execute a pre-defined sequence of 5 different finger/hand gestures with both the left and right hands.
- Each gesture must be held for a minimum of 3 seconds and must visibly and accurately match the target pose defined in the reference documentation.
- The transition between gestures must be smooth and consistent, with no audible grinding or visible shaking/vibration.
- A video recording of the entire gesture sequence for both hands must be attached to this ticket.
🏃 Steps to Run the Test
- Preparation: Place the robot on a stable, flat surface. Ensure the camera has a clear, close-up view of the hands and fingers.
- Test Selection: Execute the pre-existing "Hand Gesture/Dexterity Sequence" script/program. This script should contain the 5 target poses.
- Recording: Record the entire sequence. The recording should focus on the hands and capture the execution of all 5 gestures on both the left and right arms.
- Observation: Closely monitor the robot during the test for:
- Incomplete or inaccurate joint alignment (e.g., fingers not fully extended or curled as required).
- Visible tremors or mechanical oscillation while holding the pose.
- Slowing or failure of a specific finger or joint to move as programmed.
- Audible clicking or grinding from the hand/wrist motors.
- Reporting:
- Attach the recorded video to this issue.
- Add a comment below detailing the outcome (e.g., "Passed: All 10 gestures were held accurately and smoothly," or "Failed: Right hand failed to fully extend the pinky finger during the 'counting 5' pose").
