From 6574f70b8bcc3d932ff7bf32b0abf52f48829725 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: 3metaJun <251347867+3metaJun@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Tue, 6 Oct 2026 18:39:45 +0800 Subject: [PATCH 1/4] feat(meta-mode): bind playbooks to T3 Code native primitives Add a portable host-binding layer. Playbooks and the recall and create-verification-skill workflows point to a per-host reference under references/hosts/ when the host provides native delegation, PR watching, scheduling, thread history, or browser and simulator tools, and otherwise behave unchanged. The T3 Code references map each capability to the verified T3 MCP tool, its limits, and the rules that must not change. validate.mjs now fails when a T3-only tool name appears under skills/ outside a references/hosts/ directory. Without a binding, three mstack features would do the same jobs outside T3's view: `run-role` children, the `watch-pr` watcher under `/loop`, and transcript-file history. -**Child agents.** `run-role` starts a provider CLI with `execFile` or `spawnSync`. T3 does not know about that process, so it has no entry in T3's agent views, `task_status` cannot see it, and T3's docs say Stop also stops the subagents T3 delegated, which does not cover processes an agent started itself. I did not check whether interrupting a turn also kills a `run-role` child that is still running. Inside T3: +**How mstack binds to T3.** The skills stay portable and name capabilities. Where a playbook delegates, watches a pull request, schedules a wake, reads history, or collects browser evidence, it tells an agent on a host with native primitives to read that host's reference first. For T3 these are `references/hosts/t3code.md` in `meta-mode`, `recall`, and `create-verification-skill`. Each maps the capability to the T3 tool and lists the limits and the rules that do not change. The agent applies a reference only when the `t3-code` tools are present in the session, probing `orchestrator_capabilities` once if they are not listed, and otherwise follows the generic text unchanged. `scripts/validate.mjs` fails when a T3 tool name appears anywhere under `skills/` outside a `references/hosts/` directory. The references were checked against the T3 source at the commit named above, not against a running T3. -- Prefer the provider's native subagent tools for same-provider work they can run with the chosen model, and `delegate_task` for cross-provider work you want T3 to track. T3's own instructions say the same. -- Take provider instance and model names from `orchestrator_capabilities`. T3 lists its own catalog, which can differ from the names in `~/.config/mstack/models.json`. -- Use `run-role` when the `t3-code` tools are not available in the session, or for a harness T3 does not run. Expect its output in the transcript only. +**Child agents.** `run-role` starts a provider CLI with `execFile` or `spawnSync`. Inside T3 the `meta-mode` reference sends delegation through T3 instead: -**Pull request watching.** The `babysit` playbook runs `bun "/watch-pr/watch-pr"` under `/loop`. T3's `watch_pull_request` polls the pull request every two minutes and wakes the agent when a check fails, required checks pass, someone else comments, or the branch conflicts. Running both gives two wake sources for one PR. +- Prefer the provider's native subagent tools for same-provider work they can run with the chosen model, and `delegate_task` for models they lack or cross-provider work you want T3 to track. T3's own instructions say the same. +- Take provider instance and model names from `orchestrator_capabilities`, and pass them in `delegate_task`'s `target`. T3 lists its own catalog, which can differ from the names in `~/.config/mstack/models.json`. +- Every round is a new `delegate_task` call with the full brief and its own `clientRequestId`. A child cannot run with broader permissions than its parent. +- `run-role` remains the path when the `t3-code` tools are not available in the session, or for a harness T3 does not run. Expect its output in the transcript only. -- When `watch_pull_request` is available, use it instead of the Bun watcher loop and end the turn; T3 wakes the agent. Handle existing comments first, because only comments posted after the call wake it. +**Pull request watching.** The `babysit` playbook otherwise runs `bun "/watch-pr/watch-pr"` under `/loop`. T3's `watch_pull_request` polls the pull request every two minutes and wakes the agent when a check fails, required checks pass, someone else comments, or the branch conflicts. Running both would give two wake sources for one PR, so the reference replaces the watcher and loop and keeps every stop condition. + +- The agent arms `watch_pull_request` and ends the turn; T3 wakes it. It handles existing comments first, because only comments posted after the call wake it. - A wake is news and not a merge decision. The mstack rule stays: do not merge or arm auto-merge unless the user asked. -- T3's watch ends when the PR merges or closes, after 8 failed reads in a row, after 10 wakes that bring only comments, or when the user presses Stop. Call `unwatch_pull_request` before handing the work back. +- T3's watch ends when the PR merges or closes, after 8 failed reads in a row, after 10 wakes that bring only comments, or when the user presses Stop. A merge ends it without a wake, so `shipping` still confirms a merge with `gh pr view`. The agent calls `unwatch_pull_request` before handing the work back. +- A delegated child cannot watch a pull request, because its parent owns it. An owner agent that T3 delegated therefore keeps the portable watcher or reports back to its parent. - `watch-pr --status-only` is still a fine one-shot status read. T3 reports its own wake events, not the watcher's `READY`, `WAITING`, `ADVANCE`, or `COMPLETE` verdicts, so where `babysit` names a verdict, follow the T3 wake message instead. T3 also tells the agent to call `link_pull_request` for every PR it creates. That works alongside `file-pr`; the link is how T3 shows PR status on the thread. -For long unattended work, the `autonomous-run` playbook picks "the wake mechanism exposed by the active harness". In T3 that can be `schedule_task`, which keeps the schedule in T3's scheduler. +**Scheduling, history, and evidence.** For long unattended work, the `autonomous-run`, `autopilot-full`, and `multi-phase-plan` playbooks pick "the wake mechanism exposed by the active harness". In T3 that is `schedule_task`, which keeps the schedule in T3's scheduler; see [Run work while you sleep](./guide/07-overnight.md). `recall` and `session-pickup` can search and read T3 threads with `t3_thread_search` and `t3_thread_read`. These cover T3's own thread store, not provider transcript files, so the bundled history helper is still needed for threads run outside T3. `create-verification-skill` can use the `preview_*` browser tools and the `device_*` simulator tools as drivers and evidence sources. ## T3's own safety rules diff --git a/package.json b/package.json index 36df278..413ae23 100644 --- a/package.json +++ b/package.json @@ -32,7 +32,7 @@ "install-skills": "node scripts/install.mjs", "optimize-context": "node scripts/optimize-context.mjs", "reconcile-context": "node scripts/reconcile-context.mjs", - "test": "node scripts/validate.mjs && node scripts/skill-baseline.mjs --check && node --test scripts/install.test.mjs scripts/install-migration.test.mjs scripts/migration-integration.test.mjs scripts/skill-discovery.test.mjs scripts/harness-targets.test.mjs scripts/remote-discovery.test.mjs scripts/context.test.mjs scripts/model-config.test.mjs scripts/model-budget.test.mjs scripts/audit-context.test.mjs scripts/worktree-audit.test.mjs tools/meta-mode/check-plan.test.mjs scripts/sync-upstream.test.mjs scripts/runtime.test.mjs scripts/environment.test.mjs scripts/skill-integrity.test.mjs scripts/skill-baseline.test.mjs scripts/version-integrity.test.mjs scripts/agent-format.test.mjs scripts/history.test.mjs scripts/harness-policy.test.mjs scripts/harness-project.test.mjs scripts/check-upstream-adaptations.test.mjs scripts/check-playbooks.test.mjs scripts/pack-claude-skills.test.mjs scripts/session-hook.test.mjs scripts/skill-compat.test.mjs" + "test": "node scripts/validate.mjs && node scripts/skill-baseline.mjs --check && node --test scripts/install.test.mjs scripts/install-migration.test.mjs scripts/migration-integration.test.mjs scripts/skill-discovery.test.mjs scripts/harness-targets.test.mjs scripts/remote-discovery.test.mjs scripts/context.test.mjs scripts/model-config.test.mjs scripts/model-budget.test.mjs scripts/audit-context.test.mjs scripts/worktree-audit.test.mjs tools/meta-mode/check-plan.test.mjs scripts/sync-upstream.test.mjs scripts/runtime.test.mjs scripts/environment.test.mjs scripts/skill-integrity.test.mjs scripts/skill-baseline.test.mjs scripts/version-integrity.test.mjs scripts/agent-format.test.mjs scripts/history.test.mjs scripts/harness-policy.test.mjs scripts/harness-project.test.mjs scripts/check-upstream-adaptations.test.mjs scripts/check-playbooks.test.mjs scripts/pack-claude-skills.test.mjs scripts/session-hook.test.mjs scripts/skill-compat.test.mjs scripts/host-binding.test.mjs" }, "bin": { "mstack": "scripts/install.mjs", diff --git a/profiles/skill-manifest.json b/profiles/skill-manifest.json index d94fbbe..e1d03d5 100644 --- a/profiles/skill-manifest.json +++ b/profiles/skill-manifest.json @@ -106,7 +106,12 @@ "skills/create-verification-skill/references/harness-paths.md": { "upstream": null, "reason": "Local portability guidance or implementation; One exception: an owner that must split a genuinely dependent change may hold a short private base-branch stack. 4. **Swarm-verify each round before its merge.** A round starts at the code-ready head SHA and at every later push that changes the patch. At that SHA, fan out parallel independent verifiers per the **swarm** skill and aggregate to one verdict. Merge requires a clean verdict whose lane results remain valid for the merge-ready head under `playbooks/shipping.md`. Audit the merge-ready receipts before the verdict. The lanes re-run the gates at that SHA and prove the load-bearing behavior on the real surface through its runtime driver. Audit the diff in two or more independent review lanes, each with the full brief and a main focus such as consumer parity, lifetimes and races, or data and config safety. Distrust the PR body. **Regression lane against trunk.** Run the same load-bearing scenario on current trunk. If trunk does not have the feature, record that fact and gate the behavior the diff adds plus the end state the user waits for instead of pretending trunk can produce it. The live lane is the floor, and a verdict without it is not clean. No merge without the root's clean verdict. Send every proven finding to the owner in one fix-forward, including defects filed as notes. For each behavior finding, request a red test covering every site with the same defect, or a repro receipt when no test can show it. Carry that defect into the next round's brief. The new head gets a fresh swarm and verdict, except for results that remain valid under the patch-id rule in `playbooks/shipping.md`. 5. **On a clean verdict the owner merges, and a fresh owner takes the next item.** The owner merges only from a head freshly rebased onto trunk. Merge prep starts only after the round's lanes have started and ends with a rebase onto current trunk immediately before merge. The owner reports the new head SHA. CI must pass on that head, and the patch-id rule in `playbooks/shipping.md` decides whether the round's verdict still holds. If trunk moves again before the merge, the patch-id rule in `playbooks/shipping.md` governs re-verification, and the owner rebases again, reports the new head SHA, and waits for CI to pass on it. A new head voids the verdict unless the shipping playbook's patch-id or build-output reuse rule preserves the affected lane results. The owner squash-merges its own PR through the resolved forge and returns. A fresh owner picks up the next self-contained item from the queue, per meta-mode's Subagents section. The operator's full-autonomy grant plus the root's clean verdict is the merge authorization that babysitting alone never has. Operator-named items stop at merge-ready and wait for the operator's click. -6. **Run the root layer.** A genuinely new raise of a pinned gate or budget value (a limit CI only lets tighten) needs your fresh countersign, granted only after verifier proof. When the operator's grant covers approvals, the countersign is the approval. The owner records it in the form the tool's approval contract permits, with a pointer to the countersign. A lane verifies that record. The root never bypasses a forge-enforced approval. Absorbing values that already landed on main is drift, not a raise. Run an audit tick over all owners every hour. On the operator's go, arm a recurring hourly wake that runs this tick. At each tick, re-read `/meta-mode/playbooks/autopilot-full.md` from the active skill installation and the program objective of step 1, and audit the operation against both. Treat a lane that errors or passes its expected runtime without a side effect as stuck. Stand it down and dispatch a replacement at once. Do not wait for a polite return. The tick judges an owner by the pushed branch and the decision trail that step 2 requires, and it replaces an owner whose agent cannot start a turn. Each tick checks the platform's agent list when available and every owner's `children.tsv`. Whether or not stopping succeeds, record the child as stuck and replace it if its work is still needed. Provider and model go in `target` as `providerInstanceId` or `driverKind`, `model`, `options`. Never at the top level. Everything inherits unless `target` overrides it. Prefer the harness's native subagent tool when it supports the chosen model. Use `delegate_task` for models it lacks, for cross-provider work, or when T3 should own and track the child. | +| Run and drain workers | Run workers concurrently, read each complete result | `mode: "async"` (the default), then end the turn | T3 delivers each completion as a notification that wakes this thread. Do not poll or start a watcher. `mode: "wait"` blocks, and its `timeoutMs` is only your wait budget: on `waitTimedOut` keep the `taskId` and read `task_status` later. | +| Inspect or stop a worker | Read the worker's report, stop it through the harness | `task_status` (`taskId`), `task_cancel` (`taskId`, `reason`) | `workState` is `working`, `waiting_for_children`, or `result_available`. Linking twice is safe. The list returns each stack bottom to top. T3's own instructions require this, and it works beside `file-pr`. | +| Watch a pull request | `watch-pr` under the harness loop | `watch_pull_request`, then end the turn. `unwatch_pull_request` to stop | T3 checks every two minutes and wakes the thread when a check fails, the required checks pass (all checks if none is required), someone other than you comments or reviews, or the branch conflicts. Only comments posted after the call wake you, so triage existing threads first. It has no merge-ready verdict, no queue or stack frontier, and no `READY`, `WAITING`, `ADVANCE`, or `COMPLETE`. After each wake, read the PR and its threads with the forge CLI and apply the playbook's stop conditions to that state. The watch ends on merge or close, when the thread settles or is archived, after 8 failed reads, after 10 wakes in a row that bring only comments, or when the user stops the thread. A merge ends it without a wake, so confirm a merge with `gh pr view`. A delegated child cannot watch because its parent owns the PR. | +| Wake later or on a cadence | The harness loop, a persistent process, or an external scheduler | `schedule_task` with `prompt` and `schedule`; `list_scheduled_tasks`, `update_scheduled_task`, `delete_scheduled_task`, `run_scheduled_task_now` | Pass `schedule` as an object: `{type:"interval", everyMs}` (at least 60000), `{type:"fixed_time", timeOfDay, weekdays?}`, or `{type:"webhook"}`. By default each run posts into this thread (`bindToCurrentThread`). `false` starts a fresh thread per run. Report the returned cadence and `nextRunAt`. The run sees only its `prompt`, so make it self-contained and write the stop condition into it. Pause with `update_scheduled_task` (`scheduledTaskId`, `enabled:false`), end with `delete_scheduled_task`. `run_scheduled_task_now` takes `taskId`, not `scheduledTaskId`. A webhook run sees the request only through `{{body.path}}` placeholders. | +| Ask for a secret | Ask the user to enter it themselves | `request_secret` (`label`, `reason`) | The value never reaches you. Matches are user and assistant text with 240-character snippets. It does not read provider transcript files, so a thread run through a provider CLI outside T3 is not in it. | +| Questions pending in another thread | Read the worker's last message | `t3_pending_request_list`, `t3_pending_request_read`, `t3_pending_request_respond` | Answers user-input questions only. Use another browser only when the `preview_*` tools are absent, the user asks for one, or `preview_open` reports it unsupported. Prefer locators from `preview_snapshot` over coordinates. `preview_snapshot` with `save:true` returns a `screenshotPath`. `preview_recording_stop` returns an environment-local path to a recording up to 50 MiB. `preview_navigate` takes `url` or `target:{kind:"environment-port", port}` for a dev server. | +| Mobile simulator evidence | The project's own simulator tooling | `device_list`, `device_open`, `device_screenshot`, `device_close` | `device_open` boots the device, shows it to the user, and returns the `agent-device` CLI invocation pinned to it. Taps, typing, installs, and logs go through that CLI, not through MCP tools. `device_screenshot` can be registered separately from the others, so use the CLI's screenshot when it is absent. `device_close` with `shutdown:true` powers the device off, so close only devices you opened. | + +## Rules that do not change + +- **Merging stays a user decision.** A watch wake, a passing check, or a + schedule tick is news. A delegated child cannot watch because its parent owns the PR. | -| Wait for a merge to land (Shipping step 8, an owner waiting on auto-merge) | The portable watcher as an event wake, plus `gh pr view` polling until `mergedAt` is set | `watch_pull_request` for check, comment, and conflict wakes, plus a bounded `schedule_task` confirmation wake | A wake on green can arrive before an armed merge completes. If you then end the turn, nothing wakes you when the merge lands. So before ending the turn, create one `schedule_task` with `{type:"interval", everyMs:120000}` (the minimum is 60000) and a self-contained prompt: run the playbook's merge check (on GitHub `gh pr view --json state, mergedAt,mergeStateStatus, statusCheckRollup, autoMergeRequest`), continue the playbook's next step when `mergedAt` is set, or report and stop on the playbook's hard-fail conditions, and otherwise end the turn silently. Keep the returned `scheduledTaskId`, and `delete_scheduled_task` it as soon as the PR is merged or the run stops. Never leave it running. Also `unwatch_pull_request` once merged. If `schedule_task` is absent or refused, keep the portable watcher and poll in this turn, and say so. | +| Wait for a merge to land (Shipping step 8, an owner waiting on auto-merge) | The portable watcher as an event wake, plus the forge's merge check polled until the PR is merged | `watch_pull_request` for check, comment, and conflict wakes, plus a bounded, self-deleting `schedule_task` confirmation wake | A wake on green can arrive before an armed merge completes. The run sees only its `prompt`, so make it self-contained and write the stop condition into it. So the task must bound and delete itself, and later runs must be able to find an orphan. I did not check whether a run still fires into a thread after a user Stop, so assume it does. + +1. **Create it once the merge is armed.** `schedule_task` with `{type:"interval", everyMs:120000}` (the minimum is 60000) and `bindToCurrentThread` left at its default so the tick wakes this thread. Use the title `mstack merge-confirm /#`, exactly one task per PR. Check `list_scheduled_tasks` for that title first and reuse or replace it rather than adding a second. +2. **Embed the bounds in the prompt, in a form the run can read.** + - `DEADLINE `: creation time plus 6 hours. A queue stuck for longer is a problem for a person, not for a poller. The window covers a slow CI queue and caps an orphan's life at a working day. + - `RUNS LEFT `, starting at 180 (6 hours at 2 minutes). The deadline is the binding bound and the counter a second guard. + - The PR URL and the playbook's merge check, on GitHub `gh pr view --json state, mergedAt,mergeStateStatus, statusCheckRollup, autoMergeRequest`. + - The task title, so the run can find itself. `list_scheduled_tasks` does not report `runCount`, and the task's own id is not known until after creation, so the prompt does not rely on either. +3. **Each run does exactly this.** Read the current UTC time from the shell. Without a trusted clock, treat the deadline as passed. Find its task with `list_scheduled_tasks` by exact title. + - Deadline passed or `RUNS LEFT` is 0: do nothing else. `delete_scheduled_task`, then report that the task expired and the merge is unconfirmed. + - Otherwise run the merge check. Merged: `delete_scheduled_task`, `unwatch_pull_request`, and continue the playbook's next step. + - Closed without merging, or one of the playbook's hard-fail conditions: `delete_scheduled_task` and report the failure. + - Still pending: rewrite its own prompt with `update_scheduled_task` (`scheduledTaskId`, `prompt`) so `RUNS LEFT` drops by one, then end the turn without reply text. +4. **Sweep orphans at the start of any Shipping, Babysit, or session-pickup run on this host.** Call `list_scheduled_tasks` and look only at titles starting with `mstack merge-confirm `. Delete a task, with `delete_scheduled_task`, when its PR is merged or closed or its `DEADLINE` has passed. Leave alone a task for a PR that this run is itself still waiting on. +5. **Say so in the final reply of the run.** Name the task title and `scheduledTaskId`, say whether it is deleted or still armed, and note that a Stop leaves an armed task running until its deadline. Give the one-line fix: `delete_scheduled_task` with that id, or ask the agent to delete the `mstack merge-confirm` tasks. +6. **Fallback.** If `schedule_task` is absent or refused, keep the portable watcher and the forge poll in this turn, and say that no confirmation task exists. + ## Rules that do not change - **Merging stays a user decision.** A watch wake, a passing check, or a
