As of September 2025, out of 123,000 addresses, almost 65,000 have woken up and now show a zero balance. Another 5,000 addresses hold less than 0.0001 BTC. And roughly 5,000 more addresses still have a positive balance and have shown activity between 2014 and 2025.
The notion of "dormant" is quite relative. It’s like a volcano: if it’s dormant, that doesn’t mean there will never be an eruption. In total, about 75,000 addresses have awakened (three-fifths), while about 50,000 remain dormant.
This is a small percentage of the total, but on average in 2025, 1–2 addresses wake up per day.
