Making a list of things that need done before releases. All things in list ideally should be tested on many ports, the most popular ones, and specifically Heretic-plus.

All releases checklist:

  • Update documentation/license with date and version numbers.
  • All maps played to exit, no cheats.
  • All new maps played in heretic-plus.
  • Read all intermission and end game texts. Can use a test wad.
  • Carefully browse test wad. Look for anything weird on sprite frames, or other graphics.
  • Watch all demos with in-game demo loop.
  • New in-game demos, if old ones are desyncing.
  • 4 coop starts and items.
  • 10 or less DM starts and items.

Milestone checklist, these are things that eventually need to be possible or finished.

  • All skill levels on all maps can get 100% kills/monsters/items, with no cheats or port features(jumping). 100% scores on maps will cover many issues at once.
  • All secrets, items, and monsters should be reachable from exit by backtracking (100% scores related).
  • Lengthy DM and Coop testing on all maps in all multiplayer ports.
  • Make sure automap is properly working, looks good, and used well.

  • All maps carefully looked over in Heretic-plus for tutti-frutti or medusa effects, texture alignments, light levels or general lighting, sector/texture bleeding, or just general vanilla visuals.
