Create a new discord server for BGC

Our current setup is too disorganized: We are a sub-team in the WAT.ai Discord.

We need to set up our own Discord (or Slack?). We also have people from outside of WAT.ai participating in the project, and having our own space would make things much simpler.

This is the ticket to have a discussion on how we want the new discord to be organized to work across different teams. I'm still a discord noob so I'm relying on the team to guide me in the best way to set this up.

Please provide a list of channels, and subchannels? Whatever the '#' are called idk. What is the proper organizational structure here with each of our teams? It's probably something similar to sktime's Discord. What roles should we have?

following the structure of the sktime discord server:

they have tabs/folders (such as "general" or "dev") under which they have dedicated channels for different purposes, such as help desks or voice channels. i think it would be beneficial that each sub-team has its own tab under which we have standardized channels that all subteams will have in common, in addition to any team-specific channels. for example, every team can have the following channels: help desk (for inquiries where the TPM can answer sub-team specific technical questions), discussion (for spitballing ideas), voice (for tech discussions), and any other channels that we deem to be relevant. in addition to these standardized channels across all tabs (which pertain to each subteam), we can also have team-specific ones. for example, the research team can have a channel under their tab where they post links to articles and research papers that the rest of the team can look at.

Adding on, we could have a few voice channels under each sub-team's folder to make collaboration easier if we do paired programming tickets. As for roles, I guess we could have one for each sub-team?
