<head><title>Jonathan Warner.</title></head>
<p><lb/>The son of Daniel Warner, formerly chief justice of the court
<lb/>of common pleas for the province of New Hampshire, was born at
<lb/>Portsmouth in that province on the 6th of September 1726.
<lb/>He was educated a merchant, & as such did considerable busi=
<lb/>=ness. The 25th of June 1766 he took his seat as a counciller under
<lb/>the royal government; but during the resolution be supported
<lb/>the cause of his country against the usurpations of the British
<lb/>government. He was a man of decent talents, firm & perseve=
<lb/>=ring in his measures, but of gentlemanly manners. He
<lb/>regularly attended the polls at sixty six annual town meet=
<lb/>=ings, & often presided as moderator; & probably was the oldest
<lb/>magestrate in the State. He was not wealthy; & died childless
<lb/>at the place of his nativity on the 15th day of May 1814, in his
<lb/>eighty eighth year.</p>
