DCDB Updates 2025

Later in the year, we're going to have the opportunity as a community to discuss with DCDB changes that we'd like to see developed for the CSB management tools, API tooling, etc., much as we did previously (and got a lot changed to make things mo'betta).

This discussion is the place (or at least a place) to make suggestions for what you'd like to see happen in the system. There's no guarantee that they're going to get made --- there are resource constraints there like everywhere else --- but at least we can get them into consideration.

Remember that, as a consequence of the IHO Crowdsourced Bathymetry Working Group meeting in March and subsequent decision at the IHO Inter-Regional Coordinating Committee, the specification for GeoJSON data format and metadata requirements is now a responsibility of the DCDB rather than being specified in the B-12 guidance document managed by the IHO CSBWG. Therefore, we don't have to wait for IHO WG timelines to get changes made --- so long as we can make a convincing case for why things need to be changed, and the archive can support the change without breaking too much, the timeline for change could be order weeks rather than 18 months!
