Most volunteer data doesn't have corrections applied for offsets between the echo sounder and water level, or for sound speed, or for water level changes. In many cases, the fundamental information for this isn't even available. Some functionality is therefore required to estimate the biases in the data, and to correct them as far as possible.
This includes:
- OpenVBI already has a water level correction abstract interface and an implementation for NOAA water level stations; augment this with the newly published CHS water level correction methods.
- Incorporate an observer bias correction (against reference data), e.g., from Klemm's method against BlueTopo, or Reputation Code (Calder, 2021).
