Index common queries or otherwise speed up database

I don't know if we've indexed anything in the database yet, but would it make sense to create indexes to cover, at least, all the queries coming from the "Associated Objects" pages? (These are running very slow at the moment for many units)

I mentioned during the standup this morning, that there are likely indexes in place for the connections between tables, but the search for the Unit Number string on the Unit table may benefit from indexing in this case.

Otherwise, caching the number of associated objects for each related table will speed up loading the page after the first request. We could run an initializer that queries each unit's associated objects on app start, but that may be a huge slowdown to app restarting.
