[FR] JavaScript gRPC-Web Client

I am working on integrating the CRED-CLUB/propeller service into a JavaScript application and would love to see official support for a gRPC-Web client.

Request:

• Provide a generated gRPC-Web client for JavaScript in the repository.
• Include instructions in the documentation for setting up and using the client.

Benefits:

• Makes it easier for developers using Vanilla JavaScript or front-end frameworks like React, Ember, or Vue to interact with the service.
• Broadens the usability of the service across various platforms.

Hey @karngyan , gRPC-web doesn't support client side and bi-directional streaming which is needed for propeller to function. But propeller does have experimental support for WebSockets for the web, but it's experimental and not yet thoroughly tested. If you are interested, you can try to test websockets and help us fix any issues. Here is the WebSocket wrapper.

Hi @Abhishekvrshny 👋 Thanks, would you consider extending the API to a unidirectional server side stream for web?

e.g:

service PushService {
  ...
  // SubscribeEvents streams events from the server to the client (unidirectional)
  rpc SubscribeEvents(SubscribeEventsRequest) returns (stream SubscribeEventsResponse) {}
}

Or may be support a separate set of APIs for it.

I would like to understand the use-case better. If you can help with more details on what the current problem statement is and how you plan to leverage propeller with a unidirectional server-side stream, that would help!
