alternate desktop support for desktop edition users

Hello, I have been using niri, and I was using gamescope-session-git and gamescope-session-steam, alongside some scripts that manipulated my login managers config file to simulate what the steam deck had, I also modified the files from gamescope-session-steam to do pre and post session commands to turn on my tv and to switch inputs. Maybe add some user definable config file so we could define pre and post commands and select which desktop session to load into.

I understand this package is mainly for handheld edition, but this change would add a lot more flexibility for more niche case users.

steamos-manager supports session switching and it'll be used in the steam client soon. It'll support alternate desktops so we don't have to implement it ourselves. I'll keep this issue opened and update when the client updates are rolled out. Thanks.

This package works for me on desktop as is, with some minor issues. Most notably the steam remote play server is not enabled. More minor, when I switch to desktop it kicks me back out to the display manager, which I think is actually nice default behavior, that doesn't require DE specific config. I can just select my session and sign in again.

Steam is launched with "-steamos3 - steampal -steamdeck -gamepadui". I can't find documentation for any of those options other than gamepadui (alias for tenfoot/bigpicture), looking at https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_line_options_(Steam). My understanding is that steamos3 is needed to get the "Switch to desktop" power menu option to appear, but may have some undesirable side effects also. I plan on experimenting with changing this to get remote play working, but curious if anyone knows where to find more info on these options.

The steam client already supports this, but steamos-manager needs to be patched to use plasmalogin and our gamescope session path.

No, I'll move it to optional depends once I get session management working with steamos-manager.
