What is CeloHT? CeloHT is a Haitian-led, open-source initiative expanding financial inclusion in Haiti through three permanent pillars: Education, Agent Network, and Reforestation, built on the Celo blockchain. See LITEPAPER.md.
Is CeloHT a cryptocurrency or token? No. CeloHT has no native token, no ICO, and no investment product of any kind. See NO_TOKEN_POLICY.md.
Is CeloHT affiliated with Celo Foundation or Valora? No. CeloHT uses the Celo blockchain and supports the Valora wallets as infrastructure choices only. CeloHT is independently, community-governed and is not officially affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Celo Foundation, Valora, or Opera. See LEGAL_STATUS.md.
Who founded CeloHT? Johnny Dubic. CeloHT is community-governed — see GOVERNANCE.md for how decisions are made beyond the founder.
Do I need to already understand blockchain to use CeloHT? No. The Education pillar exists specifically to teach these concepts from the ground up, primarily in Haitian Creole. See EDUCATION.md.
How do I convert cash to digital money? Through a verified Agent Network member near you, via the dApp's agent directory. See AGENT_NETWORK.md.
Which wallets does CeloHT support? Valora. See DAPP.md.
Will CeloHT ever ask for my seed phrase or private key? Never, under any circumstance. Any message asking for this is fraudulent. See SECURITY.md.
How do I become a CeloHT Agent Network member? See the lifecycle and requirements in AGENT_NETWORK.md. Registration begins through the dApp's agent onboarding flow.
How are agents compensated? Through a transparent, published per-transaction fee paid in USDm — never through token rewards. See AGENT_NETWORK.md.
Can I contribute code even if I'm not in Haiti? Yes — CeloHT is fully open source and welcomes global contributors. See DEVELOPER_GUIDE.md and CONTRIBUTING.md.
How can my organization partner with CeloHT? See PARTNERS.md.
Does CeloHT accept donations or grants? Yes, denominated in fiat or USDm, earmarked to specific pillars. See GOVERNANCE.md.
Who controls CeloHT's decisions? No single individual. Decisions go through a community RFC process reviewed by Working Groups and, for major changes, the Maintainer Council. See GOVERNANCE.md.
Can the No-Token Policy ever change? In principle yes, through governance — but the process is deliberately difficult (60-day minimum public comment period, Maintainer Council supermajority) because this policy is foundational to community trust. See NO_TOKEN_POLICY.md.
I saw a "CeloHT token" being promoted somewhere — is it real? No. CeloHT has no token. Report it immediately to contact@celoht.com. See NO_TOKEN_POLICY.md.
How is my data protected? No personally identifiable information is stored on-chain. See LEGAL_STATUS.md and SMART_CONTRACTS.md.
