CodeSense Phase 3 MVP: Gamification & Engagement 🚀

Overview

Phase 3 transforms CodeSense into an engaging, gamified coding platform that keeps kids motivated and makes coding playful. This MVP implements the core gamification features outlined in the roadmap.

🎯 Core Features Implemented

1. Audio Missions

  • Predefined Missions: Three engaging coding challenges
    • Robot Treasure Hunt: Guide a robot through a maze using movement commands
    • Counting Adventure: Create loops to count numbers
    • Pattern Maker: Build repeating patterns with blocks
  • Mission Flow: Start → Listen to instructions → Build code → Run → Hear results
  • Narrator Integration: Speech Synthesis API explains mission goals and instructions

2. Rewards & Sound Effects

  • Success Sounds: Ascending C-E-G melody using Web Audio API
  • Failure Sounds: Descending tone for encouragement
  • Audio Feedback: Different tones for different code elements
  • Celebration: Victory messages and encouraging feedback

3. Audio Blocks Mode (Beginner Mode)

  • Visual Block System: Click-based block addition and removal
  • Block Types:
    • ⬆️ Move Forward: Movement command
    • ⬅️ Turn Left: Direction change
    • ➡️ Turn Right: Direction change
    • 🔄 Loop: Repetition structure

🎮 User Experience Flow

Mission Selection

  1. User sees three mission cards with descriptions and goals
  2. Clicking a mission starts the adventure
  3. Narrator explains the mission and instructions
  4. Interface switches to mission mode

Mission Execution

  1. Block Building: User adds blocks from the palette
  2. Code Assembly: Blocks appear as visual cards
  3. Mission Running: Click "Run Mission" to execute
  4. Results & Feedback: Success/failure sounds and narration
  5. Retry Option: Reset and try again with different blocks

Settings & Customization

  1. Voice Selection: Choose from three narrator styles
  2. Immediate Feedback: Voice changes are announced
