Feature Request: Implement Background Execution and Taskbar Connection Management

It's so annoying that I have to keep the console/command line open and alive to maintain a connection. Can you make it run in the background, allowing me to manage the connection (such as disconnect, reconnect, and change protocol) from the taskbar?
