Hello everyone,

We're excited to introduce Gideon, an open-source, AI-driven CLI tool built specifically for cybersecurity defenders. As a modular agentic system, Gideon leverages advanced AI to handle defensive tasks like threat intelligence gathering, CVE analysis, IOC reputation checks, security policy generation, and more—all while prioritizing safety and ethics.

Key Features

• Daily Briefings: Run gideon brief for a curated summary of the latest CVEs, threats, and news tailored to your environment.
• Threat Intelligence: Analyze IOCs (e.g., IPs, domains) using integrations like VirusTotal and AbuseIPDB.
• CVE Research: Dive deep into vulnerabilities from NVD and CISA KEV catalogs.
• Policy Generation: Create hardening policies for AWS, Azure, GCP, and other platforms.
• Advanced Integrations: Powered by NVIDIA technologies (NIM for inference, Morpheus for threat detection, NeMo Guardrails for safety), OpenRouter for access to 400+ LLMs, and Exa AI for neural semantic search.
• Voice and Modular Skills: Experimental voice interfaces and extensible "skills" for custom workflows, including bug bounty research and pentest planning (defensive only).

Gideon is designed "for defenders, by defenders"—it strictly avoids offensive capabilities and includes robust guardrails to prevent misuse.

Getting Started

1. Prerequisites: You'll need Bun (v1.3.6+), and API keys for services like OpenAI/Anthropic, Exa, VirusTotal, etc.
2. Installation:

   git clone https://github.com/Cogensec/Gideon.git
   cd Gideon
   bun install
   

3. Copy env.example to .env and fill in your keys.
4. Configure gideon.config.yaml as needed.
5. Run bun start for interactive mode, or try commands like gideon cve CVE-2024-1234.
