The EventOntology has a large number of 'Act of X' classes, sub-classes of 'Planned Act'.
The differentia are explained in the definitions, but some axiomatization opportunities are missed.
In particular, there is a set of Acts for which a key differentia is the nature of the primary output .
For example, 'Act of Observation', 'Act of Measuring', 'Act of Prediction', 'Act of Approximation, 'Act of Data Transformation', 'Act of Intelligence Gathering', 'Act of Planning', 'Act of Representative Communication, and 'Act of Identifying' all produce information.
This could be axiomatized with
has outputandInformation Content Entity.Other groupings probably exist, though might not be so easily axiomatizable.
For example, 'Act of Motion', 'Act of Artifact Modification', 'Act of Artifact Processing', 'Act of Homicide', 'Act of Suicide' all cause a change of position or state.
Another set produce a change of ownership or custodianship.
Another set involves the transfer of information.
These ideas are influenced by the W3C SSN Ontology where the subclasses of
Execution(a Planned Act that follows a Procedure and uses an Artifact or Tool) are primarily distinguished by their outputs:Observationgenerates information;Actuationgenerates a change of state;Samplinggenerates an artifact.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
