1.1 crashes

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. downloaded 1.1
2. opened app
3. auto-update dialogue box appears (i picked both yes & no alternatively on 
several tries)

What is the expected output? What do you see or hear instead?
Expect the app to work but instead it crashes.


What version of Olearia are you using?
1.1


What is the Books title?
Could not get to this stage so N/A at this point.

What is the Books type?
(if unknown what is the filename or the files extension that you opened to
load the book?  ie *.opf , *.ncx or ncc.html)


Please provide any additional information below.

It may be that Olearia is crashing due to an old/corrupted prefs file.

Please delete this file from your ~/Library/Preferences  folder  
com.BrainBenderSoftware.Olearia.plist

empty the trash then try opening Olearia again.

If it still crashes please post the crash log here for further examination.

I have the same problem. If i delete the prefs file the app starts and I can 
listen to a book. But the next time I start the app the problem reappears and I 
have to delete the prefs again.

I have fixed the issue. What you do, is you delete the preference file called 
com.BrainBenderSoftware.Olearia.plist in your ~/library folder. Then, you open 
Olearia and you go to preferences. In the general preferences, check the box to 
check for updates automatically. This will write the required boolean 
preference file so that it does not ask you again if you want to check for 
updates. Once you relaunch Olearia, you can definitely change the preference so 
it doesn't check for updates automatically if you wish. I suggest you relaunch 
just to make sure that Plist file is written. I am not sure if it is written 
before you relaunch.
What I think is happening is, that the app is having trouble writing the 
preference to check for updates automatically when you press the button in the 
dialog which appears. Therefore, instead, you must make that change in Olearia 
preferences.

I couldn't even access the preferences file to make the changes so I downloaded 
the previous version and that worked so am now using that instead of 1.1.

AlyssaBl's workaround worked for me.   An easier implementation of it is this:
- if Olearia is running, close it
- in Terminal.app, type 'defaults write com.BrainBenderSoftware.Olearia 
SUEnableAutomaticChecks 0'.
