Cross-device synchronization function？

I may be misunderstanding what you are asking for, but it seems like this may be a bit complicated for the app to manage itself. I will mention that Daily You allows you to sync to an external folder. If you sync that folder location across different devices using a tool like Syncthing, then you effectively have syncing across devices. In my case, I set the external folder to point at Nextcloud. With that, all of my devices have access to the journal. Does that cover what you are hoping to accomplish?

I hear you! Sadly, I'll probably need to keep that out of scope. It would be a large effort and difficult to maintain. In the spirit of "using the right tool for the job" I think that this feature would be better left to a dedicated syncing tool.

I have also thought about this as it will be nice to be able to auto upload somewhere. I am quite happy with what Joplin does. In this case I believe encrypted by default would be best.

So my idea for backup/syncing:

• let user pick a provider (to be thought of, because some APIs are just pain), can also add a self hosted option – but that would need to be a separate project and a ton of work, so scrap that and instead don't create anything proprietary and single-use
• automatically encrypt the data, with the key stored on device - symetric encryption. This may be an issue due to the danger of user losing the key and then not being to download their backup.
• to add another device one will to set a provider and then add the key from another device (e.g. scanning QR, sending link 🤷‍♂️)
• resolving conflicts may be done in three ways: respect latest edit / create a dedicated view / yolo it and just say that one of the versions is the right one

This is just an idea and I may create a PR in the future. Love this project and this would lower the skills needed to do something like this. But I don't believe it's really that necessary, it would just be nice.
