Description

@mickdarling

Enhancement Request

Implement a verification system for the 378+ MCP platform compatibility claims in our documentation.

Background

PR #1 introduces comprehensive MCP client documentation with 378+ platform claims. The review identified that these claims need independent verification and sustainable maintenance.

Requirements

Verification System

  • Create automated tooling to verify MCP compatibility claims
  • Establish testing methodology for different platform categories
  • Implement version tracking for MCP/client compatibility
  • Add dating to all compatibility data

Community Tools

  • Build framework for community-driven testing contributions
  • Create standardized testing templates and procedures
  • Establish QA system for tier-1 platforms before expanding to others
  • Develop contributor guidelines for compatibility updates

Automation

  • Set up automated compatibility testing where possible
  • Create tools to pull updates from ecosystem sources (PulseMCP, etc.)
  • Implement CI checks for compatibility data validation
  • Build dashboard for tracking verification status

Implementation Phases

Phase 1: Foundation

  1. Establish testing criteria for different platform types
  2. Create manual testing templates
  3. Verify claims for top 20 most important platforms

Phase 2: Community

  1. Launch community testing program
  2. Create contribution workflows
  3. Establish review process for community submissions

Phase 3: Automation

  1. Build automated testing pipeline
  2. Implement regular update checks
  3. Create maintenance dashboards

Acceptance Criteria

  • All compatibility claims are verifiable and dated
  • Community can easily contribute testing results
  • System can scale to track hundreds of platforms
  • Maintenance burden is sustainable long-term

Priority

High - Documentation credibility depends on accurate compatibility claims
