abstract: >
  The CernVM-File System (CernVM-FS) provides a scalable, reliable and
  low-maintenance software distribution service for large scientific
  collaborations. Implemented as a POSIX, read-only FUSE file system,
  CernVM-FS publishes files and directories from standard web servers into
  the global namespace /cvmfs. Internally it relies on
  content-addressable storage and Merkle trees, and uses outgoing HTTP
  connections only, which eases firewall traversal.
