Hello, when I receive a PSD file that I don't have much information about, I usually iterate through its layers. However, the base Layer class doesn’t include a type attribute, and I’m not sure how to retrieve that. For example, if it’s a text layer, I would typically need to know its text value.

If you are using cpp couldn't you use this snippet to find out the layer type?

if (dynamic_cast<TextLayer<bpp8_t>*>(layer.get()))
{
    // this is a text layer!
}

For example, if it’s a text layer, I would typically need to know its text value.

That's doable. Perhaps we could consider the scenario where the layer is of a certain type, such as group, pixel, shape, type, smart object, or PSD image. like
