Add More Clock Types? #5

@ErichZimmer

Description

@ErichZimmer

Premise

Commercial synchronizer providers typically have many clock source types such as freerun and many different external trigger patterns. It may be advantageous to include those too to add more flexibility to this low-cost synchronizer device.

Context

Optolution and Microvec both incorporate the following clock patterns:

  • free run (no external triggers)
  • free run (external trigger start)
  • free run (when external trigger is high)
  • externally triggered (trigger skips and delay)

Due to the the way the firmware of an OpenSync device is structured, it is extremely trivial to implement these features and may only take as little as an afternoon for paper sketches, programming, and testing.

Alternatives

Do nothing. These are not really needed, but they are implemented by well-known commercial providers.
