Navigating on Google TV/Chromecast

I've managed to sideload the app onto my Chromecast with Google TV but I'm having trouble navigating the app with only the Chromecast remote control (directional pad with OK button in the middle). The Home screen is okay and I can get to the toolbars, but I cannot navigate to the tabs at the bottom of the screen as the Home screen just keeps on scrolling indefinitely.

Is there a better way to navigate this app with no touch or pointer available?

I found half a solution:
Under Settings > Appearance > Content Display > Home Feed > Show App logo icon - OFF
With the app logo gone, I can navigate up to the toolbar and then left will take me to the tabs at the bottom of the screen.

I still can't interact with the cards to get to the thumbs up or thumbs down options with the Chrome remote, so some more work needs to be done there, but at least I can now select my subscriptions and explore tabs...

Please try the nightly build, it has a TV UI layer w D-PAD support

That is certainly a better experience (with the main navigation on the side).
Obviously being a dev build it is not perfect and you're probably already aware of some of these issues, but just in case, a few things I noticed.

• Import of settings is limited to sync from another device (no import of json/xml files - if I can sideload an APK, I can copy the backup files across for import too).
• Sync from a device failed with an invalid json when syncing recommendation list
• Sync from a device failed to import subscriptions (no groups found)
• Settings - UI mode - trying to change to anything other than Auto-detect, fails, just jumps back to the first settings tab
• Content View - cannot navigate to the channel to subscribe from a video.

Thanks for your efforts. This is definitely a work in progress and one I'll keep an eye on...

@bmadtiger thanks for the review, the TV UI layer was added by a contributor, i just modified a bit on top of it, but it still needs a lot of work to be done. I also don't have a android TV to download and test on which can help identify more bugs and lags than the android tv emulator from android studio i used during testing
