006.3 Enlightenment Solution

Hey @colinmegill I'm working through the Workshops you held at SeattleJS. Unfortunately I'm on the east coast and I wanted to know where I can find your solution to 006.3 that was mailed out.

I have my own implementation but wanted to compare. Care to include it in the repo? Thanks!

@dho825 thanks for your effort - broadly, check out the repo https://github.com/FormidableLabs/recipes-flux, specifically the pattern for controlled inputs seen here. That's the solution in practice. The UI is data - even if it's a single letter the user just typed. This is super odd coming from jQuery, so hence the Koan.

Hit me back with any questions - I'll leave this issue permanently open - I'm sure it will be helpful to others.

those hints aren't helping me much. Here's my gist.

This line Pass in a method from the parent that fires an action with form instance data. Not really sure how that's supposed to work. I formulated a handler function https://gist.github.com/morenoh149/e23eb140bb565fe19e9c#file-006-3-solutionhm-html-L141 that would reset the child component's state to an empty string after it's called. Not sure what's supposed to happen here.

The answer is detailed in the second video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR22EWW-CVc one hour in. The input shouldn't have state, put that info in the parent and manage it there.
