This ask is for overcoming a design flaw in Fireboard itself.
The Fireboard's names are static, so if you want your cook to have the actual name, you must rename the ports on the device itself -- every time your food name/type changes. (I asked them to fix this like 3 years ago but the FB team seems to have no desire to add any meaningful functionality so I'll ask here since this is an excellent add-on!)
Would be nice if we could have HA's Entity ID based on the Port number (not the actual name in the Fireboard device). Then have the Name be correct, and update as we change it in the Fireboard.
This is what happens when your Integration creates the Entities...
Entity Name...Smoker Sirloin Cap
Entity ID... sensor.smoker_sirloin_cap
I'm suggesting the Entity ID be... sensor.smoker_port1
This should keep Dashboards and Automations will always working (they should always use Entity ID) and auto-update to show the Port's Name listed in the FB device.
