Schanz Pin bent during active manipulation and reduction while in surgery – Mixed batches identified

During the second EXFIX surgery, one of the Schanz pins bent while the surgeons were manipulating and adjusting the fracture.

Upon reviewing the shipment, we discovered two distinct groups of Schanz pins:

1. Engraved with the word "Germany"
2. No markings or engravings

We suspect that the failure came from the unmarked group, but we will double-check with Abu Jawad to confirm that these are the same pins involved in the failure.
This suggests there may be a variation in quality or source between the two batches, which could have contributed to the bending issue during surgery.

The Schanz pin that bent (pictured above) was a 5mm D x 200mm L pin manufactured by Elcon Medical Instruments. These will not be used in the ExFix kits anymore.

The 5 new kits that are currently at the hospital to be used next have Schantz pins 5mm D x 200 mm L manufactured by OrthoSelect. All of these OrthoSelect pins have been brought to Gaza, and there are no more in Jordan.
