Manifesto

Hello!!! I'm Harry - I'm a year 2 BSc Computer Science (with Year in Industry) student, applying for the role of DevSec.

I've maintained some cool things in the past!

• Asda Product Lookup https://prodlookup.co.uk/
• CyberPowerPC UK Discord (with bot)
  • Community with 20k+ members
  • XP, ecommerce integration, physical rewards management
• Helping out Nottingham Street Aid with their grant application portal

Maintaining existing infrastructure

• Infrastructure HackSoc already has is pretty cool 😎
  • But when it breaks, we need to know how to fix it easily!
  • Introduce an (Obsidian-like) repository for central documentation for everything
    • To include both maintaining HackSoc infrastructure, and planning for HackNotts
    • Document planning for future events to (hopefully) make the process easier
• Maybe I'll learn Rust along the way... 🦀

HackSoc / HackNotts Websites

• Oversee the development of the HackSoc and HackNotts website

  • Prioritise useful new features, e.g. a responsive mobile calendar (in an Agenda view) would be neat
  • HackNotts: make Tito ticketing more mobile-friendly on the website

• Categorise & archive HackSoc GitHub repos that aren't maintained or used anymore

• Fix and future-proof HackNotts Archives

  • Currently, HackNotts repository is an amalgamation of previous years
  • Decouple all years into their own repositories
    • These would be hosted on their own subdomains (e.g. 2025.hacknotts.com)
  • Have a 'central' archive index site for previous years hackathons
  • If someone in the future (inevitably) wishes to make a HN website in the newest JS framework, Rust, or (God forbid) Haskell, it doesn't have to cause a headache for future maintainers!

Discord

• Do a little bit of spring cleaning
  • #opt-in-roles -> use the built in Discord feature
  • Merge #general and #off-topic
  • Split categories up
    • Community (general/pets/food)
    • Tech
• Hopefully: continue to build a more active UoN CS community!
