Trips and Hackathons Secretary
Manifesto
HELLO Hello hELLO, I'm Tadisa, a first year CS student and I'm running to be your next trips and hackathons secretary. I've already survived LeedsHack and HackNotts so trust me when I say I have some experience with free swag, sleep deprivation and midnight pizzas.
I also really love trips so I'm beyond ready to get the rest of Hacksoc out into the wild (hopefully we can all touch grass together)!
Why I'm the perfect candidate for the job:
- I'm a Verified Traveler: I have gone to an external hackathon before and I've already planned which ones I'm going to for the 2027 season so i already have that requirement down. I'm ready to help all students who have any questions about hackathons
- Networking & Relations: I host 3am workshops on SAAS and B2B sales all the timeee but on a serious note, I promise to be the primary bridge between HackSoc and major players like MLH and Hackathons UK. I’ll make sure Nottingham stays on the map and that other hackathon organisers are catered for
- Logistics Wizard: From organizing trips to the Nottingham Hackspace and more to figuring out the most cursed train routes to London, I’ll handle the "how do we get there?" so you can all focus on "how do we build this?"
Goals for the Year:
- The Hype Pipeline: A dedicated way to promote external events so no one misses out on a chance to build something cool (or get a free t-shirt and stickers).
- Human Documentation: I’ll be the point of contact for anyone nervous about their first event. Need a teammate? Don't know what to pack? I'm your girl!
- Operational Support: I’ll actively assist other organisers with travel arrangements, ensuring HackSoc members arrive in one piece and ready to code.
- Fun Trip: I promise to never ever ever plan a blatantly boring trip and I'll try to make sure they're fun for everyone
The TL;DR:
I have the energy to organize the trips, the experience to answer your questions, and the patience to deal with National Rail and coaches so you don't have to. Also look at this picture of me in my leedshack shirt
