Invalid password

Hi ! I can't use your script because I have a single unauthorized char in my password. It's a "é". I added prints in your script, and it seems to be the issue. Is there a workaround ? Thanks a lot

Sorry, I honestly do not know... I have been messing around for the last hour trying to make a password with the "é" work in my script... but I cannot seem to get it to work. I suspect because of issues with UTF-8 and encoding of passwords etc 😞

I'm not very familiar with working with nonASCII passwords, sorry.

Assuming it was an encrypted .key file you were having issues with; perhaps this might help?

Not sure if this will be helpful to anyone here, but I found that for an encrypted key that starts with U2F and can be decrypted correctly like this:

⇒ python decrypt_multibit_classic_keys.py example.key

I was also able to decrypt it using openssl directly like this:

⇒ openssl enc -d -aes-256-cbc -md md5 -base64 -in example.key -out example-decrypted.key
enter AES-256-CBC decryption password:
*** WARNING : deprecated key derivation used.
Using -iter or -pbkdf2 would be better.

And when I was using the wrong password, it would look more like this:

⇒ openssl enc -d -aes-256-cbc -md md5 -base64 -in example.key -out example-decrypted.key
enter AES-256-CBC decryption password:
*** WARNING : deprecated key derivation used.
Using -iter or -pbkdf2 would be better.
