Plans for the next version (Updated 2026-03-10)

This issue is pinned and will inform about what it planned for the next version. Note that planned means I will work on it, but it might not yield a result.
It will be updated regularly, at least on a new release. (well, that didn't work out at all)

Planned for 3.9:

• Passive gesture data gathering
• Finally some of the too many open PRs

Note that I do have significantly less time than before release of 1.0, so development is not as fast paced any more. Though sometimes it goes a little faster, like the past week...

As many of you will have noticed, I'm often not available for quite a while. This is likely to continue, as I really enjoy such breaks. I am aware this is not great for users and even less so for contributors waiting for some action on their PRs, but I found it's really necessary for myself.
With decreased available time on my side (see above) and increased popularity of the app, the kind of work I'm doing in HeliBoard has changed, and for several reasons I often find it considerably less fun and more exhausting than ~2 years ago. This is a main reason why I stopped regularly spending more time than I wanted (as opposed to being unable to stop when I'm in the mood). That said, I'll still occasionally have weeks when I'm much more active.
