Upvote button's function isn't obvious

I didn't immediately realize what the upvote button at the bottom of a post would do if I clicked it.

I think I thought it would scroll back to the top of the page or reveal 5 comments or something.

I don't know, maybe change the double chevron to just a single solid triangle? And maybe add "upvotes" after the number, so it says "5 upvotes", sort of like how Hacker News says "5 points"?

I didn't hover my cursor over the upvote button long enough to see the hint: "Toast this post". I probably would've understood what that meant, but I'm not sure it's very clear. Maybe it could just say "Upvote"?

This issue is pretty minor because after clicking the upvote button, I realized what it did. And I think addressing issue #375 would make this issue even less of an issue.

oh I thought it's a scrolll up button until I read this too, maybe adding 'upvote' or making the contrast of the button against it's background to make it look like a primary action would work?

Fair enough. I'll give some thought to the default toast button (for context, it used to say "Toast this post" originally).

In the meantime you can customise your upvote button. You'll notice a lot of Bear blogs have custom ones. Here's a guide written by Sylvia on how to do it: https://sylvia.bearblog.dev/toast-buttons/

I just tried to hide the update button completely, but final CSS just adds it back.
(Only the first three lines were added by me to my themes CSS.

Is this feature available to paying customers only?

@bttrx You can hide the upvote button by setting the make_discoverable: false attribute on the post. This will remove the upvote button and hide the post from the discovery feed, since the feed is ranked by upvotes. It will only do this and nothing else.

However, w/r to your CSS, you can just add !important after display: none to hide it with CSS only.
