Delay when installed on an SSH server

This extension is so great. But it is so slow to react when I am working on a server over ssh, i.e. when I use VS Code to SSH into a remote server and I install the extension on the server. Is there a way to have the benefits without the delay?

To reproduce the issue, ssh into a remote server over a VPN with a large enough ping (>300 ms), and install the extension on that server and try running it on some code.
