ClipForge 0.7.0 is out, and it adds a second way to work.
Caption the whole video. Until now ClipForge only did one thing: read a long video and cut the best moments out of it. Sometimes you don't want highlights, you want the video you already have, vertical and captioned. So now you can hand it a 16:9 video and get back one full-length vertical edit you can trim, restyle and export, with optional speaker tracking and auto zoom.
Both modes work on the same project and share the transcript, so switching between them never pays for transcription twice.
Custom caption fonts. Upload any TTF or OTF. Fonts are matched on the family name embedded in the file rather than the filename, so the preview and the export agree.
A caption sizing fix worth explaining. Burned-in captions were rendering at roughly 58% of the size the preview showed. CSS
font-sizesets the em square, but libass sizes text against the font's OS/2 window ascent plus descent, which is larger than the em on essentially every font. Em sizes were going straight into the ASSFontsizefield. If your exports have ever looked like the captions shrank on the way out, that was why, and it's fixed.Full notes: https://github.com/JeremySNR/clip-forge/releases/tag/v0.7.0
Packaged installs update themselves, so you may already have it.
Two things I'd genuinely like input on, if you use this:
