In section 1.5.2, page 13, you clearly distinguish between a taxonomy and an ontology (I agree with this distinction).

From the first two chapters, it sounds like you agree with the definition that a KG is an ontology plus de data. But the statement you make at the end of page 40 (regarding using the KG as a "semantic layer") confuses me.

As you mentioned, we consider ontology a key element to define the knowledge provided by a KG, together with information from structured and unstructured sources.

The "semantic layer" concept represents a different perspective on the KG, which acts as an intermediate layer between the original data and the user. So, it is another way to define the KG.
