I appreciate the purchase. Honestly yeah it is a bit of a gimmick, something I don't really use myself. The only reason it costs money is because it costs money for me to use the OpenAI APIs. It is hard to get the AI to do anything useful without it being conversational. Honestly the original value proposition for me was that I could get a plan into liftlog pretty quickly and easily. I wonder if that's a better use? A freeform field (maybe it can take a docx/excel file or a link to a webpage) that does all the legwork of data entry |

ChatGPT itself is capable of putting the plan into a string and make a pdf out of it using python. I don't know much about OpenAI API (or any API for that matter), maybe you can process its output into a plan. Or it could be the prompt you create from your users input. If the prompt sucks, so does the reply. |

Honestly, you could be better of not using the Pro plan to pay for fhe API, but rather introduce some nice to have features behind a pay wall. Make the app really nice without any paying, but have a handful of "enhancing" features behind the pay wall. For example, a Rep-In-Reserve option, timers, enhanced notifications, possibility to add custom exercises. Other idea: process the user data with an AI to come up with a better plan or tips, rather than create one from scratch. |

I like the idea of using the AI to import an existing pdf workout. Cause sometimes im lazy to add all the exercises before a workout. Even just using chatgpt externally to give me a summary of the PDF and then copy paste that into here to that the AI can build it into the app would be a huge plus |

I've redone the ai planner in the new version. It is now a chat interface and much better at iterating. Have a play and see how it feels. screen-20250816-100025.mp4I think its a good base and I could see features being added around reading plans from sites or uploaded files (maybe some sort of ocr before AI to save on tokens)
I appreciate the idea of that, LiftLog has never been about making money for me. The pro version is kind of nice to have people like it that much and helps cover costs of the apple store ($150 a year). But I'd much rather it become a fantastic completely open source app. |

I just bought Pro, not because I need the AI but because I really like the app. However, I tried the AI plan generator: I find it really bad.
When I ask ChatGPT to create a workout plan with the same information, it explains the whole plan and accounts for all the additions you pass it. The AI Planner in LiftLog currently feels as a gimmick.
