Logs should be visible when using podman/docker logs

Librebooking logs are not visible through docker/podman logs: they are only visible inside files:

• <log_path>/app.log
• <log_path>/sql.log

Normally, a ln -sfT /dev/stdout /var/log/librebooking/app.log performed by entrypoint.sh should do the trick, but I am getting:

UnexpectedValueException: The stream or file "/var/log/librebooking/app.log" could not be opened in append mode: Failed to open stream: No such file or directory

Maybe it depends on how librebooking handles app.log. To be further checked.

When I change the function __construct withhin source file /var/www/html/lib/Common/Logging/Log.php inside the container and force the streamhandler to be php://stdout, then it works: all the php logs are displayed by docker/podman logs.

When I switch to /dev/stdout from php://stdout, then I have the same errors as above with the symbolic link.

Maybe monolog cannot write to a device such as /dev/stdout`... To be further checked

From the php documentation, it seems that /dev/stdout and /dev/stderr can only be open in "write" mode, while librebooking uses the "append" mode...

@colisee Maybe we could add support for an environment variable that will tell Librebooking to write to php://stdout?

Maybe a config/environment variable? LB_LOG_TO_STDOUT or something like that.

An alternative could be to ask for:

• 2 log pathfiles (app and sql)
• log level

If no pathfile, then no log.

À pathfile could be /var/log/librebooking/app.log or php://stdout

Other regular contributors of Librebooking may have better suggestions. Please point them here.

I will also check the impact of opening a streamhandler in write mode (instead of append mode) to have a complete view before committing to a solution.

Please, monitor this issue.

After testing, I can confirm that the “write” mode is not an option, for it scratches the log file frequently.

Based on my tests and searches on the internet, the only path that works for monolog to log to /dev/stdout is php://stdout. The trick based on symbolic links doesn’t seem to work with monolog.

Henceforth, we are back to changes in upstream (librebooking/librebooking)…
