Feature Request: Add Granular Chart Type Labels to Dataset

Hello,

Thank you for creating and sharing this valuable dataset.

I am writing to request the addition of detailed chart type labels. In the associated paper, there is a chart that breaks down the distribution of chart types used in the dataset (I have attached this chart below for your reference).

The chart types shown include bar, line, scatter, map, heatmap, pie, treemap, bump, sankey, area, flow, bubble, and radar, among others.

However, the dataset currently available on the Hugging Face Hub does not seem to include a chart_type feature that specifies these granular categories for each example.

The addition of these labels would be incredibly useful for the research community. It would allow for a much more detailed analysis of model performance across a wide variety of data visualizations, helping to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses for specific chart types.

Could you please consider updating the dataset to include a chart_type column with these specific labels as referenced in the paper?

Hi,

Thanks for your interests in our benchmark! Since the paper is currently under review, we are not allowed to update the benchmark until the review period is over (around September-October). I'll add the chart type as a new column after the review period. Meantime, a recommendation would be that you can prompt an LLM to assign a chart type to each image. It should be quite reliable as assigning chart type is not a super challenging task for current LVLMs.
