More useful flyout size

The flyout containing the Delete commands is never large enough space to show them all without scrolling, usually horizontally as well as vertically. This doesn't seem to be a HiDPI issue, nor do I have any particular text scaling set in Thunderbird itself.

If the box has to be a fixed size, rather than responsive to its contents, I think making it way too large would be preferable to way too small.

Thanks for the report! You’re absolutely right that the current flyout isn’t behaving well, and it’s something I’ve personally been frustrated with for quite a while.

The core problem is a tension between wanting a tight, consolidated UI and the amount of information I’m trying to convey on each button. The labels have simply outgrown the flyout container. I’ve tried a number of different approaches to make it scale more gracefully, but none have felt robust or future-proof. Increasing the fixed size (or relative height) of the dropdown is possible, but I’m not confident it would fully solve the problem across configurations or prevent similar issues from reappearing later.

Because of this, I’m planning a UI redesign for the next release that may address these usability problems more cleanly. My current leading idea is to switch to a two-column layout and remove the flyout/dropdown entirely, which should eliminate the scrolling and sizing constraints altogether.

That plan isn’t set in stone, though. Ideas or input are very welcome. If you have thoughts on alternative layouts or prioritization of the actions, I’d really appreciate hearing them.

This is nice! A huge improvement over the previous version. I especially like that we can now see the target URL right away, a key component in determining whether or not an unsubscribe request will even be honored.

I'm still puzzled by the presence of scrolling at all in the delete options menu. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there will always be exactly four delete options, right? There's "Just This", "All from sender", "All from address", and "All from domain". Each one is no more than two lines of text (unless there's wrapping?). And with the current design there is enough space to see three of those four options; you always have to scroll to reach the fourth one or to even know it's there, which seems unnecessary clunky to me. We obviously can't devote infinite vertical space to this little window, but I think we could eliminate the scrolling altogether in most cases by committing another...45 pixels?

BONUS: This might make the window tall enough enough to show another line or two of the target URL without HORIZONTAL scrolling :-P
