Kernel 7.2.9: installation, kernel and troubleshooting pages
Troubleshooting: real rollback with skillfish-rollback, and repairing a desktop Discover removed
Kernel 7.2.6: the shipped version, the package names and the release link
Wiki: no emoji, and the facts match what we publish
The navigation was decorated with sixteen emoji and the footer with one more.
They are gone: a bullet list does not need a pictogram per line, and
"Warning:" says what an emoji says in every font.
Then the stale facts behind issue #70:
- kernel 7.2.0 -> 7.2.5 in Installation, Kernel and Troubleshooting, including
the release-asset URL and the hand-install commands
- two kernel flavours, not three: "generic" and "slim" were the names of the
7.0.11 builds in June. What the archive serves today is 7.2.5-skillfishos
(znver2) and 7.2.5-skillfishos-x64
- two ISO editions, not three, about 2.9 GB each and built with live-build
- release 26.06.5 everywhere, with the matching SourceForge path and file names
- the CPU line says what the board ships with AND what SkillFishOS unlocks
- Apps lists the six packages we publish and never mentioned:
skillfish-vf-governor, skillfish-scx, skillfish-mesa-gfx1013,
skillfish-primo-avvio, skillfish-boot, skillfish-audio-dolby
- On-device AI makes it plain that the Ollama recipe is akandr's, not ours
Control Center: the wiki follows the merged window
SkillFishOS Tuner, Monitor, Fan Control, Kernel Manager, Snapshots and
the AI panel are now sections of one SkillFishOS Control Center window
(skillfish-control-center). Renamed SkillFishOS-Tuner.md to
SkillFishOS-Control-Center.md and rewrote it as the new app's page, and
updated every page that referenced the old separate apps or GPU
governor concepts (Governor mode, the four Stock/Performance/Turbo/Crazy
presets, the old GPU wizard) to match the current curve+ceiling+presets
Tuner section, the Profiles section, and the expanded AI section.
Secure Boot now works: the published kernel is signed
The four linux-image builds on the release page carry a SkillFishOS signature
as of today, so skillfish-secureboot is no longer half a feature: enrol the key
once and the machine boots with Secure Boot on.
One trap documented because it bites everyone who already runs 7.2.0: the kernel
package skips the download when that version is installed, so an existing system
keeps the unsigned build until a new version comes out. The manual replacement is
written down and was tested on a real board - unsigned before, CN=SkillFishOS
Secure Boot after, initramfs and GRUB regenerated.
Document Secure Boot: why the machine stops after GRUB, and what to do
Nothing in the wiki mentioned Secure Boot, and it is the cause behind issue #53:
we build our own kernel, an unsigned kernel is refused by the firmware, GRUB
hands over and the screen just sits there. Users had no way to find that out.
Says plainly what works today (turn Secure Boot off) and what is coming (the
kernel is signed and skillfish-secureboot enrols the key). Verified before
writing: the kernel currently published on the release page carries no
signature, so the tool alone does not help yet - the page will be updated when
the signed kernel ships.
Document skillfish-base (watchdog+freeze detector) and skillfish-console (Big Picture session)
