Sorry im quite new to github andcant seems to find the question option.

First of all this is a nice script! :) 100% working with MySQL .

Just wanted to ask if this will also work if my DB is SQL Server? will cakephp automatically generates the sql syntax for SQL server?

Adrina, we haven't used SQLServer for years, so we cannot test it, theoretically it should work! According to the cakephp book sqlserver can be used as a datasource: http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/models/datasources.html

So try to connect and give it a try

public $default = array(
    'datasource' => 'Database/Sqlserver',
    'persistent' => false,
    'host' => '192.168.1.x',
    'login' => 'username',
    'password' => 'password',
    'database' => 'dbname',
    'prefix' => '',
    //'encoding' => 'utf8',
);

Thanks Yusuf, will give it a try, probably by next week and will update you.

I was trying to find a way to make a DB independent backup and restore script for CakePHP, then I suddenly crossed upon this your script. it looks perfect.

However, I ran into a problem with big records ( 1million rows )-- I'm getting the common php memory exhaust problem. Increasing the memory in php.ini is not an option for me so I'm currently modding your script to do the saving by batch (doing a count then adding limit offset).

Thanks again this script is really a life saver.
