googleAuth module example not updating data after sign in

What goes wrong

When running the demo code for the shiny app authentication (exact copy of example code except client id), I am able to succesfully generate an oauth log in. However, after logging in, the data (name, email, etc) don't update.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Please note that if a reproduceable example that I can run is not available, then the likelihood of getting any bug fixed is low.

Check it doesn't include any sensitive info like auth tokens or accountIds - you can usually just edit those out manually and replace with say XXX

I stumbled upon the same issue. Were you able to resolve this @noahhaber?

What worked for me now was the re-creation of the new Google Identity login button: https://developers.google.com/identity/gsi/web/guides/display-button.

It is a bit tricky, because Google returns a JSON Web Token in this case. Don't forget to replace YOUR_GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID, use "http://localhost:3475" as an authorized JavaScript origin and redirect URI in your client definition, and use this URI in your browser (preferably icognito mode for testing).

I think it’s likely just very out of date (5+ years) I’d say look for more modern alternatives such as firebase

Afaik the solution that I propose above uses Google Identity Platform, which is the backend for Firebase: https://cloud.google.com/identity-platform/docs/product-comparison. However, the Google docu is notoriously hard to fully comprehend :)
