Sorting Resets on Update and New Messages

One feature I’d love to see in this addon is persistent sorting. I usually sort by gear score (GS) or raid name. However, the current implementation resets the sorting every time the addon is updated, and even more frustratingly, whenever a new message arrives. Since messages come in rapidly, the sorting doesn’t stay intact for more than a second, making it very difficult to locate raids efficiently.

It would be fantastic if the sorting preference could be preserved, even when new messages are received or after an update. This improvement would significantly enhance usability.

Hi, thanks for bringing this up.
I am using this addon on a legacy 3.3.5 wotlk client and have never seen this behavior. Are you using a newer wow client by any chance?

I don't plan to take over the project, the original author is just inactive. I am simply providing the state that I use myself and might update when I see issues.

This does not happen for me on the dev branch (the latest code). Sorting by a column such as GS keeps the sorting even when the message list changes.

But I definitely hate the way that expired raids and new messages are constantly changing in the list, making it very frustrating to read the tooltip of an entry, because it constantly moves around and loses focus. This is really obvious on active realms like Warmane.

A good way to solve that would be to BLOCK (pause) list updates while the player's mouse is over an entry (viewing a tooltip), or maybe while the mouse is anywhere within the list of raids. So that the updates (new lines/line removals) are delayed until the player moves their mouse away again. Then the player can calmly read the list without stress. Although it still makes sense to at least update the hovered tooltip text of current entries while the player is looking at the frame, to see changes such as new message contents by the same recruiter. (Like the old tooltip "20/25" changing to "24/25" and no longer needing DPS etc.)

Still, a great addon that makes life easier than trying to read the actual chat channels.
