Is it possible to make your own flag and use it with this plugin?

I could theoretically add a configuration file for it, but since I'm busy studying right now, I can't promise anything unless I find some free time.
Feel free to fork the repository and make any changes you’d like, though!

How does it work right now? Are the flags hardcoded?

Yes, the flags are hardcoded — you can check the source yourself.
If you look closely, I added the European Union flag as an organization. You could use that approach and create another section for custom flags however you like.
