AutoNetGuard was my first exploration of how AI and security tooling could help small businesses defend their networks without needing a full-time IT team. It laid the foundation for what became ShieldDesk — a more focused cybersecurity SaaS for the same audience.
Building AutoNetGuard helped me understand:
- Small businesses need clarity more than features — they want to know what to do, not more dashboards.
- Education is as important as tooling. Most breaches start with human error, not missing software.
- A narrow, useful MVP beats a broad, ambitious vision.
The lessons from AutoNetGuard directly shaped ShieldDesk, which narrows the scope to practical assessments (like email security) and plain-English educational content.
