[Feature Request] Support Installing Unlisted/Friends-Only Workshop Mods via Workshop ID or URL #26

Description

@asdoo4069

Hi,

First of all, thank you for adding Steam Workshop support to the launcher.

I have a feature request regarding Workshop downloads.

Currently, Workshop mods can only be installed by searching for them through the launcher. Would it be possible to support installing Workshop mods by directly entering a Workshop ID or Workshop URL?

My use case is that I maintain a few private mods which are only shared with a very small number of users. Some of these mods cannot be published publicly, so I would prefer to keep them as Friends Only or Unlisted Workshop items.

If direct Workshop ID / URL installation were supported, users could still install and receive updates for these mods without requiring them to be publicly searchable.

A few related questions:

  1. If Workshop ID / URL installation were implemented, would those mods also be tracked by the "Auto-check tracked Workshop MOD updates" feature?

  2. How does "Auto-check tracked Workshop MOD updates" currently work? When is the update check triggered? For example, does the launcher check for updates when launching the game, when opening the launcher, or at some other time?

Thank you for your work on the launcher.
