Allow use logback-access with logback-gelf

Hello,

I'm trying to use logback-gelf with logback-access [ jetty ] to send compressed gelf message to logstash server on UDP port.

I was looking a way to configure this but appears to be not possible.

Do you have in mind implement this in a short period?

Hey, sorry for the extremely late reply on this. I haven't used logback-access before, but from what I've read, there's no reason it shouldn't work. logback-access uses appenders/encoders in exactly the same way as the normal logback.xml, so you should in theory by able to provide the exact same configuration a you would for normal application logging.

Logback access only supports layouts that implement of IAccessEvent (ie ch.qos.logback.access.PatternLayout).
me.moocar.logbackgelf.GelfLayout and me.moocar.logbackgelf.GZIPEncoder implement ILoggingEvent, so they can't be used as logback-access layouts.

Although similar, the format of logback-access.xml configuration file is slightly different than the configuration file format logback-classic. Appenders and Layouts are declared the exact same way. However, in the access module there is no notion of loggers and consequently logger elements are disallowed.

Logback-access ships with an http-specific implementation of PatternLayout.
