Feature request: rapid task name editing on small screens

I frequently add minimal task names and then have to edit them.

At the moment, it seems I have to click on the task, open the menu, select edit, make my change, press save, and then click the back button.

I would like to instead be able to edit the task name in the task list itself.

Hey, this is actually supported already :D. But there are some gotchas.

In the first version, you could always edit the task name by clicking the task. But then I realized it conflicts with the action to select a task and open the task panel. So now, it only works if you click on top of the text. But then I also realized that in mobile, even short task names don't have a lot of room to click for selection. So in small screens, this is disabled altogether.

However, I realize this is almost a hidden feature at this point, because it's not very easy to use if you don't know about it (and it doesn't work on mobile). So I'm totally open to improving this, but I'd need to think how to reconcile inline task editing with task selection, specially on mobile. Any ideas?

I'm nearly exclusively on mobile, which is why I hadn't found the feature :-D

I'm a novice when it comes to design, but the first solution that comes to mind would be detail arrows, e.g. https://ionicframework.com/docs/api/item#detail-arrows
Probably the clickable area would be somewhat larger than the arrow itself.

A second idea would be to detect long presses on mobile and switch to an inline edit mode with a save button to return to normal mode? That might suffer from poor discoverability too though??

I like that one, but yes, indeed it doesn't have great discoverability...

I'll think more about this, feel free to keep adding ideas to this issue if you want. I'll also see how other apps out there do it. But I'm working on other things at the moment, so don't expect this to be solved in the short term.
