Importing a mesh gives missing attribute error

When I import a .mesh file into blender it gives me this error (username redacted for privacy reasons) saying that the

Addon installed via the instructions in the readme. Blender 4.4.0,

try using an older blender version

switched to blender 4.1 and now i get this when importing a .mesh file - the python console is empty despite saying to check there for a full report (i couldnt find any other consoles it could be referring to)

I've had the same issue. I've successfully found a workaround by converting to .mesh to xml using OgreXMLConverter then importing the xml, but it works only with Blender 4.2, not with 4.5. The .skeleton also fails to import.
