Why did you choose OpenPay over Stripe, Adyen, or other payment platforms? #1

I originally created OpenPay out of curiosity I wanted to understand what a modern payment infrastructure stack would look like if it wasn't tied to a single provider. One of the biggest things that motivated me was avoiding vendor lock-in. Payment infrastructure is a critical part of any business, and I don't think companies should have to rebuild their entire system just because they want to switch processors, expand into new markets, or use a different provider. I wanted to explore a setup where the application talks to one consistent payment layer, while the underlying processors can change depending on requirements like region, pricing, availability, or payment methods. The goal was never just to replace one provider with another. It was to build something flexible, transparent, and owned by the people running it. I'm excited to see how others use OpenPay, what problems it helps solve, and where the community thinks it should go next. |
